Meet the Aldermans! I first met Veronica at my son’s preschool, at Christ Community Church, she was his teacher. Oren absolutely loved school and I am sure that her fantastic teaching had a lot to do with that. Her husband Greg is actually the head pastor at Christ Community.

Greg and Veronica are two lucky parents. If I had 4 kids, I could only hope that they all be as amazing as the four of their kids. (Sorry honey, not gonna happen!) As you will see from these photos the amount of personality that these kids possess is fantastic! Whenever I photograph large families, I’m never sure what to expect, ‘Will everyone smile?’ ‘Will someone inevitably be blinking in every photo?’, the list of problems can go on and on. Well, I never expected such a funny, corny, and well behaved group of kids, needless to say I was excited to see what they would bring to the photography. Greg and Veronica wanted to do a capitol theme since the last time they had their photos done was in Iowa. What a great way to preserve your families memories and the places that you have lived than to do a “home town” themed shoot. I was very impressed by the entire family’s’ knowledge of Sacramento. It made me realize that there is plenty of interesting things that can be learned by just taking a stroll around the grounds of the capital building. We were told that we had just missed Ah-Nold and his entourage by a couple of minutes. Oh well his loss, could have been had the best portraits he’s ever had. Maybe next time Governator.

[Katie's Senior Portraits]

Here is a recent photo shoot that I did with Katie. We decided to go out to Lincoln and use some of the downtown terrain and then move into the hills above and get some more shots in a nature setting. All in all this may be one of my favorite shoots to date, because shooting a lot of these in mid day sunlight was a bit of a challenge, but I was VERY pleased with the end results. And so was she, I hope. Enjoy!

{Keith + Desyré} Wedding day!

So, Keith and Desyré have gained the distinction of becoming the first couple to join the Whiteley Photography family!

This was such a fun day ofo shooting. They put their faith in my abilities and gave me free reign to shoot and document this day as I saw it. I hope that I didn’t let them down. I felt that in these photos I was able to pust the envelope of my skills and must say that I was very, very happy. I can only hope that they are as happy as I. God’s fingerprint was very evident that day. Here are a few shots from the day, and there will be more to come. Enjoy!

{Keith + Desyré} Engagement Session

Well it’s been quite a while since I have posted anything here, so I guess this post is long overdue. Meet Keith and Desyré. I wanted this shoot to really reflect who Keith and Desyré were, so we decided to do this shoot on the UC Davis campus. I am very glad that we made that decision because we had the whole campus to ourselves, and I really feel like this allowed them to relax and enjoy eachothers company while my camera and I were just along for the ride. When we started out the day, I started to give them some instruction on posing, and I asked them to give eachother a kiss. “Ummmm…we don’t kiss.” I’m sorry, what was that? “We haven’t been kissing for the last year or so.” And when were you going to mention this to your photographer who has been planing this shoot out for some time? “Um…sorry.” (they say with smirks on their faces.) Well, this was actually a blessing in disguise. Not only do I think that this is what enabled me to really capture the future Mr. and Mrs. Keith MacMillan, but it is also one of the things that makes the love that they both profess for Jesus Christ so obvious. They are both graduating from Davis and are both going to serve in the missionary field through Campus Crusade on the Davis campus.

They posted several of these shots on facebook and I noticed that one of their friends had noted how much they felt like the pictures had “captured the personality of the real you”. As a photographer, I think that may have been the greatest compliment that I had ever received. Thank you Keith and Desyré for letting me be the one to document the begining of the rest of your lives.

Look for their wedding photos in the near future! But for now, enjoy this engagement set!

The Holiday season is rapidly approaching, and I am going get a head start, to be sure that we have plenty of time to arrange and take your photo shoot. That way I can be sure I can edit all of your fantastic images and get your images to you when you need them.

I will running a $100 special for a family photo shoot. This will include a 1 hour photo session for a family of 4 (additional family members can be added for a cost of $10 per person), and 5 high resolution digital images (all color corrected and custom processed).

You receive the digital files! You can take those files and share the images of your family with your friends, family and have your Christmas cards printed at your favorite photo print store. If you’re doing the math, that’s only $20 per image. That’s less than the cost of an 8″x10″ print ($25.00)! You will also have the option to purchase more digital files, if there are more than five images that you can’t live without. Also, if you would like to receive better value for your dollar, consider upgrading to a larger package where more digital images are included.

All of your family’s portraits will be hosted on our image-hosting site and are available to be ordered as prints from a professional photo lab.

This wedding was held in a quaint little back yard and was filled with all sorts of hand made details. Needless to say, I was excited to get out and shoot my first senior portrait shoot. And, I couldn’t have been luckier than to be able to work with Ashlee. Ashlee is an aspiring photographer herself, and she was looking to do a shoot with a lot of creativity. Something that was going to push the envelope. Well in both locations, we were got really luck with some beautiful skies and sunsets. Those combined with some fantastic locations, made for one OUTSTANDING set of photos. Hiking @ Hidden Falls with the Astins.

So, somehow I was suckered into doing one of my least favorite activities…hiking. Don’t ask me how, because I’m not sure. But, since I agreed to go, I figured I better make the best of it by bringing my camera. Here are a few shots from the day. (In reality, it wasn’t too bad if you don’t count Oren getting too tired to hike his way back out, and me having to carry him out on my shoulders while he falls asleep…for 2+ miles!!) Enjoy!
